Thursday Feb 28, 2008
Eluv spoke with Carl about the early days in rock and roll, touring, and his latest projects. Carl is a sweetheart, very gracious and humble... He called me from his cell while he was on the road on his last tour, literally in between shows to do this interview. I very much appreciate him taking time to do this during his busy schedule. Carl Rocks! Carl Palmer is truly a dynamic, brilliant technician and drummer extraordinaire for some of music’s most memorable bands including Atomic Rooster, The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown, Asia and Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Along the way his dazzling speed and mastery of the drums, combined with his infectious stage personality, have secured for him a respected place in history as one of Rock and Roll’s greatest drummers Carl's definitely all about the music. When he's off the road, he does drum clinics. Some of the clinics are for aspiring and also master drummers; others are at schools for deaf children and schools for blind children. In this interview, Carl shares some of his secrets for working with physically challenged children. I’m sending positive healing vibes and blessings to Carl Palmer... Carl Palmer, drummer extraordinaire and founding member of Emerson, Lake and Palmer; Asia and The Carl Palmer Band; has recently had a successful heart operation carried out at an undisclosed hospital. Palmer, 57, had an angioplasty procedure done which is designed to prevent further narrowing of an artery in his heart by insertion of a stent. "I am happy to say the procedure was a complete success and I am already feeling better each day,” says Palmer, who is resting before beginning the Asia 2008 World Tour, set to begin in March. "This was a precautionary measure done to ensure my safety. In my case, it was as a result of a hereditary factor, and the physicians involved wanted to make sure every precaution was taken. I am very grateful for their medical expertise and care. With the procedure behind him, Palmer is cleared once again to resume his normal work schedule, which includes tours with both ASIA and his own group, The Carl Palmer Band. Aside from its World Tour launching next month, ASIA will be releasing Phoenix, its first new studio album with the original line-up since 1983. You can listen to a live interview with Eluv and Carl Palmer right here... Meanwhile, I wish him a speedy recovery, continued good health, and a wonderfully successful upcoming tour! Catch him if he’s in your town for what promises to be an unforgettable show!

Eluv-Live Interview with Anoushka Shankar
Wednesday Feb 27, 2008
Wednesday Feb 27, 2008
Eluv speaks with Anoushka Shankar about music, life and her Grammy-nominated album “Rise”. Anoushka Shankar is the only artist in the world to be trained completely by legendary sitar virtuoso and composer Ravi Shankar, her father. Anoushka emerges as a most dynamic and respected artist in her own right, performing with extraordinary talent and grace, bringing her rich heritage of eastern music to the west. On Rise—which was composed, produced and arranged by Anoushka—she collaborated with a select crew of virtuoso Eastern and Western musicians wielding a variety of both acoustic and electronic instruments, often engaging in unexpected ways to create tantalizing new sounds. On Rise there are a couple of tracks on which she eschews the sitar all together in favor of allowing her voice to be heard by way of her compositions and arrangements instead. The result is a stunning and evocative work that will surely catapult Anoushka Shankar into the vanguard of the world music scene. Anoushka, in collaboration with Karsh Kale, has just released her most recent album, Breathing Under Water, a mind bending mix of classical sitar and electronica beats and melodies. Notable guest vocals include her half-sister, Norah Jones and Sting, while her father also performs in a sitar duet along with his daughter. The album was released on August 28, 2007.
